About Us

Makwawa National Scout Camp is run and operated under the guidance of the Scout Association of Malawi. The Camp’s Commissioner is Shay Busman who helped keep the Camp up and running during the absence of Scouting in Malawi during its long ban and Scouting was only re-established in 1998.

Until 2007 the Campsite was under the ownership of the UK-Africa Scout Fellowship. In 2007, which was the centenary celebration year for the Scouting movement, an expedition headed out to Malawi to undertake renovation projects at the Camp and then handed the site back to the Scout Association of Malawi.

The future of the site looks bright and, although it is still relying on donations, projects are being set in motion so that we hope the site will soon be self sustainable.

We are now welcoming visitors from all over the world to come and stay at Makwawa.
